Product Description

Zinc is a cheap metal. Mundane to the point of contempt. It's the humble innards just under the surface of a penny because otherwise a penny that is copper to the core would cost a pretty penny. It mostly gets a bad rap because it weathers poorly, tarnishing quickly in air and often corroding completely.

This sample of zinc was purposely crafted to be as unconventional as possible. This unique texture is created by allowing molten zinc to fall in cold water where it instantly freezes solid to retain the drop-like shapes it had while still molten. They are then simply gathered into a tight grouping and left to be immobilized by the curing acrylic resin that will become an acrylic block. Needless to say, as each is individually handmade, no two will be exactly alike - and each one brilliantly displaying the element’s beautiful bluish luster.
