Its one major application is for making strong magnets when alloyed with cobalt. The dendritic distillation with its densely fibrous texture is the most attractive variant offered.

This samarium metal piece weighs approximately 15 grams and is 99.95% pure, embedded in a block of crystal clear Lucite acrylic.
