Pyrite

Although pyrite is often referred to as “fool’s gold,” it was a valuable mineral to mankind as an ore, and significant crystals of pyrite have long been recognized for their attractive, metallic luster and precise crystal formations. The beauty of pyrite is so mesmerizing that Native American tribes believed it to be imbued with intense supernatural powers. They created talismans, jewelry and mirrors from pyrite that they believed would protect them and endow them with abilities such as healing and divination.

Today, pyrite is immensely popular among collectors for its wonderfully perfect, geometric forms, and its high capacity for luster. Like otherworldly building blocks, the crystals create sculptural formations that resemble modern art.
