Over 100,000 years ago, a handful of these mysterious Muonionalusta meteorites impacted Earth in what is now known as Sweden. Not only are they extremely rare, they are almost always buried deep in the Earth and must be excavated by hand. Iron Nickel meteorites, like the Muonionsalusta generally start as the very core of a planet, cooling 1 degree every million years, which is what creates the metallic, otherworldly striations - known as Widmanstätten patterns.
