What makes each of Wilson's pieces remarkable is how much personality they convey. Here it seems as though the lamp takes on the feeling of defeat given its slouched position, however the upwardly pointing foundation also symbolizes strength, conviction, and resilience.

About the Designer
The Michael Wilson studio was founded in the fall of 2000. The Japanese-American woodworker builds individually designed furniture from richly grained hardwoods, which are hand carved with old school joinery.
