Product Description

From the Musashi Silver Collection Shirakawa Series comes this intricately hand crafted Crane Katana. Made using the Maru-kitae hand forged technique with 1060 high carbon steel, the result is a beautiful and resilient blade with a unique hamon pattern. The Crane Katana is razor sharp and ready to cut.

The detailed Maru Gata style tsuba depicts cranes in the wild. The brass kashira and fuchi also caps off with ocean wave theme. The wood handle is real ray skin wrapped in traditional black cotton cord alongside the two tone tsuba.

An additional feature is the integrated Bo-Hi on the blade. Bo-Hi are commonly known as blood grooves, but that is a misconception. The purpose of the Bo-Hi is to help reduce the weight of the katana, and actually has nothing to do with channeling blood. Making the Katana lighter enables the user to weld the katana more smoothly and puts less stress on the hands. Not to mention it benefits some advance cutting techniques that require the katana to change direction rapidly.

Included with this katana is a sword bag. Each sword is individually numbered on the tang with matching Certificate of Authenticity.

FAQ
Is the sword full tang?

It is full tang and you are able to fully disassemble the katana. The individual serial number, as well as the forge date, is etched on the tang.

Are these blades forged with two types of steel like a traditional Kanata or are they made from a single sheet of predawn and flattened steel?

The Crane Katana is forged using the traditional Maru style which requires just one type of steel.
