Product Description
Very impressive upper part of an original Egyptian sarcophagus from the late period with the original polychrome paint over stucco applied on the wooden carved sarcophagus. The eyes are very expressive and the face shows a very calm gesture. Only the important people used a large wooden coffin like this. The complete piece was almost 7 ft long, but only this part survived buried almost 2,500 years under the arid desert sand. Very few pieces like this remained on the market outside the museum's walls.
