Incidents in YUCATAN Mayan Ruins // United States Ca. 1848 // Illustrated
Product Description
John L Stephens was one of the first American explorers to take a special interest in Mesoamerican cultures. He published various accounts of his travels in Central American including ‘Incidents of Travel in Yucatan’ which describe ancient Mayan ruins, and a guide to dozens of Mayan sites such as Uxmal, Mayapan, Kabah, Chichen Itza and Tulum. Uxmal was perhaps his most well documented location in which he covers famous locations within the region. This 1848 edition of ‘Incidents in Yucatan’ is filled with full-page engravings of various ruins and archaeological sites along with an incredible folding map of the Yucatan.
