Product Description

This is a Conch shell container for holy water used in ceremonies. Known as “Buddha ears”, they were mounted as a sound instrument. All conch shell trumpets, in the Tibetan-Buddhist tradition, are referred to as dung dkar. Those that feature an attached wing bear the special designation rag gshog-ma. It is decorated with dragon and Buddhist objects and a chimera. They are used as ceremonial trumpets in prayer rituals, to summon monks to prayer, to summon spirits as well, and to invoke rain and water.
