About the Designer
Niklas Kuusela came up with the idea for the Neckpacker on his return trip from a holiday in Finnish Lapland. Despite feeling exhausted from his days spent snowboarding and partying, he just couldn't fall asleep. He couldn't get comfortable with his head bouncing from one side to the other, so he borrowed an inflatable neck pillow from one of his friends, but that was little better and offered hardly any support at all. In those desperate, tired hours Kuusela imagined an inflatable pillow that could wrap around the front, sides, and back of his head like a helmet. He started sketching his idea, and teamed up with a designer friend to build the first prototype. The innovative air cushion system was really comfortable, but they still needed to find a way to create support— that’s when the idea of a fully outfitted travel vest with an integrated inflatable hood and strap system was born! After several more prototypes, Kuusela had had created the ultimate travel garment that enables you to travel hands-free and in total comfort.
