Nellcôte is a Napa Valley winery, known for crafting opulent, uniquely expressive and collectible wines of limited production with passion and finesse. The winery’s distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon program is meticulously crafted by Master winemaker Phillip Corallo-Titus from ultra-premium fruit sourced from legendary vineyards.

Nellcôte was named after the Villa in the South of France where the Rolling Stones lived, and recorded Exile on Mainsteet in 1971 - widely regarded to be the seminal album of Rock ‘n Roll. For winery founder, Tyler Olbres, the name evokes the romance, opulence and joie de vivre he experienced during the decade he lived at his family home in St. Jean-Cap Ferrat, just two doors down from Keith Richards and Mick Jagger’s lavish haunt. It was here, under the guidance of top chefs and sommeliers of the French Riviera, that Tyler received a first-class education in fine food and wine – and developed a discerning, epicurean palate.

All Nellcôte wine names take their meaning from the world of luxury auto sport. The founder's family has a rich legacy in auto design, with Tyler's father and grandfather in that business. He has been a member of the Automobile Club of Monaco since 2001 and was invited to drive in the Grand Prix Historique. The names play homage to this heritage, while also expressing playful parallels between the wine styles and race cars. The 500 Chevaux means ‘500 Horsepower’, to recall an expertly tuned Formula One race car: sleek, powerful and designed to express the gifts of our site with precision and finesse.

The 2014 500 Chevaux Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded 92 points by James Suckling, and is muscular, naturally more tannic, and built to age, yet with a plush and polished mouthfeel and lingering finish. Concentrated and perfectly balanced, this opulent Cabernet Sauvignon shows rich aromas of blueberry, fruit compote and wild berry liqueur that evolve into notes of cola nut and vanilla that continue on the palate. Hints of espresso and dark chocolate, with soft notes of wood, unfold in the background. The wine is opulent and largescale, with firm structure and radiant tannins.

The 2013 500 Chevaux Cabernet Sauvignon is brawny, uncommonly concentrated, and perfectly balanced, with rich aromas of blackcurrants and blueberries that evolve into notes of violet and fruit compote. Sweet, spicy oak suggests toasted barrels, espresso and dark chocolate, with notes of savory cedar and cigar box unfolding in the background.
