Old Elk Distillery (est. 2013) in Fort Collins, Colorado, has been an intriguing noise maker on the American Whiskey scene over the last 3 to 4 years. Their Master Distiller, Greg Metze, boasts a career of 40+ years in the business and is the former Master Distiller of MGP. His visionary leadership has helped refine and enhance the Old Elk recipe to create a top shelf bourbon that transcends tradition.
Old Elk Bourbon includes three quality ingredients – malted barley, rye, and corn. By using four times more malted barley than traditional recipes, their bourbon takes on a sweetness and lightness that can't be matched. The malted barley, combines with the spicy essence of clove from the rye, and the traditional rich bourbon character from the corn to create a robust overall taste profile. Sherry Cask Finish Straight Bourbon
A build on Old Elk's award-winning, flagship high-malt mash left to rest in Oloroso Sherry casks for a nuanced, full-bodied flavor. The ten-year-old Spanish sherry cask add a hint of dried fruit, which melds into a nutty dry and floral finish.
Port Cask Finish Straight Bourbon
Left to rest in Port casks, the harmonious balance of richness and complexity is like nothing you have ever tasted from Old Elk Distillery. With casks from Portugal, the port finish brings out a smoother, luscious taste of deep rich, ripe fruit.
Armagnac Cask Finish Straight Bourbon
The complex flavors of Armagnac casks meld with Old Elk's high-malt mash bill, offering a rich and layered profile. Also from France, Armagnac is the rebel of the region. This secondary maturation leads to a more rustic and full-bodied whiskey with dark fruit notes and a brooding finish.
