The Foundations of America tells the story of the immigrant nation and the foundations of liberty and justice upon which it was built. In the foreground we see two young travelers disembarking by wading into the shallow waters surrounding the Statue of Liberty. Upon the statue’s arm rests the familiar architecture of a New York City apartment building in which we see a loving couple and a longing wonderer gazing away from the sprawling cityscape on the horizon.
