To build OneBlade, the team spent two years in research and development, which included 1,000+ prototypes and 12,000+ man hours. During this time, the designers and engineers on the project shaved exclusively at the office, loading 3D-printed and machined prototypes with different blades, testing hundreds of variations of blade angles, blade gaps, head sizes, blade exposures, pivots, grips, and weight balances, before zeroing in on the exact razor geometry for the optimal shave.

Introduced in mid-2017, OneBlade CORE is the newest introductory razor model offered by this Austin-based team. Key features of the CORE razor include a pivoting head controlled by a Teflon-coated stainless steel spring for added forgiveness, a quick load blade system for safe and easy blade loading, and a solid stainless steel rod inserted into the handle for an optimally balanced weight.

As for blades, OneBlade CORE uses the FHS-10 single edge razor blade made by Feather of Japan, one of the world’s foremost leaders in blade-making and a top supplier of blades amongst professional barbers. Made of hardened stainless steel and coated in platinum, these blades are super efficient, ultra-comfortable, and long-lasting (users typically enjoy 2-3+ shaves per single blade and blades can be purchased for as low as $0.67 each).
