Jose Martinez

Jose Martinez has been working with leather since he was a child. As a member of the third generation in a leather crafting family, he was exposed to art and design at a very early age. One day, when he was only 7 years old, he asked his father for a pair of Converse tennis shoes. His father shook his head furiously, handed him a bolt of canvas, and said, “Make them yourself”. This is the first memory Jose has of being given the opportunity of developing a uniquely designed piece all on his own, utilizing the tools and materials of his father’s craft. Since that day, Jose has been driven by creative enthusiasm to make quality products in the tradition of his ancestors, but with the unique touch of his own artistic expression.
