Mezcal Pluma Negra is made in the town of San Juan del Rio, which is in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. It is made with wild agaves rich in the organic flavors of their land, and is produced by hand by Maestro Mezcalero who uses the same process as his ancestors. Their goal is "to be a worthy ambassador of Mezcal, for those who deserve to feel the culture of Oaxaca in all its splendor."

Harvested from community owned land outside of the mountain village of San Juan del Río, the Tobalá agave can take up to 12 years to mature and the Tepeztate agave up to 35 years.

Tobalá is a wild maguey that grows in shaded areas at high altitudes of around 5000 feet. Delicate notes of chocolate and plum with hints of nutmeg and floral aromas. Light and long-lasting, subtle tropical flavors come through first on the palate, with low herbal and cinnamon flavors.

Tepextate is a wild maguey that grows in rocky, limestone-rich soil around 5000 feet. Notes of fresh herbs and newly cut grass with a hint of eucalyptus; warm and soft on the palate, with bright herbal notes. The long and distinctive finish increases in complexity over time.
