Raven Armoury
Tornado GR4 Clean Jet // Satin Silver
Product Description
Raven Armoury began working on this project with the British Royal Air Force Tornado GR4 Aircrew from RAF Marham after they decommissioned the last of their GR4 Tornado fleet in March 2019. Each 1:75 scale, limited-edition sculpture is cast in steel smelted from decommissioned Tornado 27mm Mauser cannons. The sculpture is set on a RB199 compressor blade from a Tornado jet engine and mounted on a hardwood base. The tail is engraved with a unique serial number in a similar style to the recently decommissioned jets.
The Tornado was conceived in the late 1960s from an initial feasibility study for a long-range attack aircraft. Military companies in the UK, Germany, and Italy formed Panavia in 1969 to develop a variable-geometry, twin-engine, two seat aircraft known as Panavia 200 which soon became known as the Multi-Role Combat Air-craft (MRCA). Engine manufacturers from the same countries formed Turbo-Union to develop an engine for the aircraft, designated RB-199. The first prototype flew on 14th August 1974 from Manching, Germany; MRCA was re-named Tornado in 1977. This is your chance to own a piece of Panavia Tornado GR4 history.
