Athena from ROAR for Good is a wearable safety accessory that, at the touch of a button, connects users with their designated emergency contacts and loved ones when they need them most. Athena pairs with the ROAR Personal Safety app on the user’s smartphone via Bluetooth. When the button on the device is pressed, Athena shares the user’s location with their trusted network via mobile SMS alerts and, optionally, emits a loud alarm.

Athena has two modes: in Alarm Mode, Athena will emit a 95+ decibel alarm and communicate with the app to send alert messages with the user’s location to their designated contacts. This mode is for emergency situations. The goal is that an attacker, upon hearing the alarm, recognizes that an electronic device has just been activated, and that they should probably get away quickly. In SilentROAR™ mode, Athena will communicate with the app to send alert messages with your location to your contacts and will NOT emit an alarm. This mode is ideal for discreet situations, where you do not want to alert others of your actions.

Based on feedback from public safety and self-defense experts, Athena was designed with a strong, modular magnetic clasp to both ensure a secure fit and give the user the ability to wear it where it feels most comfortable to them. For each Athena sold, ROAR for Good contributes a portion of proceeds to educational programs that are teaching respect, healthy relationships, and consent to youth – the kinds of programs that have been shown to increase empathy and reduce violence in adulthood.
