Sodaro Napa Valley Estate Red Blend Vertical // Set of 3

The Sodaro Estate Winery was founded by Don and Deedee Sodaro, driven by their passion and inspired by the great wines of Bordeaux and Napa Valley. They searched far and wide for the perfect location to build a vineyard and create a wine of extraordinary merit. They found that location on a beautiful site in the Coombsville region of Napa Valley. Experts were consulted on every aspect of soil, exposure, rootstock and clone, and a magnificent vineyard was planted. Caves were built in the hillside to accommodate winemaking and barrel aging, with an inviting tasting room for clients, buyers, and guests.

This series of bottles is know as a vertical - the same wine from 3 different years, so you can taste for yourself the way that climate and weather affect the taste of wine that's otherwise the same.

1. The 2010 Sodaro Estate Blend, Coombsville was awarded 92 Points by Wine Enthusiast. It's a deep, opulent wine, full of rich texture and offering dark, supple notes of ripe blackberry and black currant with hints of violets, clove and sweet tobacco.

Blend: 56% Petit Verdot, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc

2. The 2012 Sodaro Estate Blend was awarded 93 Points by James Suckling, and 91 Points by Wine Enthusiast. It displays deep, dense dark, rich purple hues, with aromatics wafting notes of ground espresso beans, dark berries and licorice. Blackberry, blackcurrant and blueberry flavors are concentrated yet balanced, and tannins are sweet and well-integrated with the fruit and acidity. The finish is long and classic, providing layer upon layer of flavor with a satisfying full mouth feel.

It has the scent of sautéed herbs, damp soil and moss-covered bark over a black and red currant core with touches of bay leaves and stewed plums. The medium to full-bodied mouth is firm and chewy with plenty of freshness lifting the earthy palate, finishing with an herbal lift.
