Product Description

Both of these exclusive Pinot Noir’s are featured on the wine list at famed San Francisco restaurant, Gary Danko. Only the highest rated wines earn spots on this wine list. This upscale Sojourn Cellars duo gifts you with 2 luxurious pinot noirs, earning over 93 points each from a variety of acclaimed publications.

Based in the town of Sonoma, Sojourn Cellars is a highly acclaimed winery specializing in the production of artisan Pinot noir, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon wines. They source fruit from celebrated vineyards in both Sonoma and Napa Counties, and help direct farming operations to assure that their grapes are produced using world-class growing techniques. They have consistently produced high-quality wines with a hands-off natural winemaking style that showcases the character and personality of each individual vineyard.

The first bottle is a 2014 Sonoma Coast pinot noise from Rogers Creek Vineyard. Rodgers Creek Vineyard is well suited for growing pinot noir, as it sits high on a ridge right in the heart of the Petaluma Gap and takes the full brunt of wind and fog that define the cool climate zone. The vines grow in light, chalky, volcanic ash soils on steep inclines. This causes natural vine stress and results in highly concentrated wines. Moderate summer weather in 2014 allowed the grapes to develop at an even pace, and the resulting wine is a step up in terms of depth and refinement. Distinctive aromas of mushroom and soy overlay layers of red fruit, earth and hints of rosemary, creating a wine that was awarded 94 points from PinotFile, 93 points from Pinot Report, 93 points from Wine Enthusiast, and 90 points from Wine Spectator.

The second bottle is a 2014 Russian River Valley pinot noir from Wohler Vineyard. Replanted in 2006, Wohler Vineyard in Forestville sits in the heart of the famed Russian River Valley within sight of the Russian River itself, and the historic Wohler Bridge. The combination of climate and Goldridge Series soils provides an environment well suited for growing ultra-premium pinot noir. Their 2014 grapes were sourced grapes from four distinct blocks within the vineyard - two are placed at the highest elevation that are the best-draining blocks on the property, while the other two are planted in cooler, lower spots within the vineyard where the soils contain more clay. Each block offers unique characteristics and an array of blending options with each vintage, which is why this wine possesses a rich, lush core with focus and balanced acidity opening up to earthy aromatics and flavors, and why it earned 93 points from PinotFile, 92 points from Wine Enthusiast, and 90 points from Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate.
