No, the SteakChamp is equipped with advanced, energy-saving LED technology and therefore requires very little power. If you keep to the instructions for use, you can use SteakChamp at least 1,000 times. (2 steaks per week = 10 years), however battery replacement is not possible.How do you use with multiple steaks?
Cut your steaks to the same thickness, e.g. 1.5" each, so they will all cook at relatively the same rate. Insert SteakChamp into the steak that will cook the longest. Remove your medium rare steaks when the green light flashes, your medium steaks when the yellow light flashes, and finally, your medium well steaks when SteakChamp flashes the red light.Can this be used in a Sousvide?

When the alarm flash is over.
Remove steak when fast green flash starts. After about 3-5 minutes the green flash stops, THEN resting is done. Your steak is perfect and ready to enjoy.

The probe can stand up to 3 minutes 900°F so flare-ups are no problem.
