The Back Pedal
Correct the underlying causes of back, hip, and sciatic pain with the Back Pedal. Designed by doctors in physical therapy, the Back Pedal is based on techniques used in clinic settings, helping to realign, strengthen, and stabilize the pelvis and low back.
The Back Pedal uses your legs to push and pull in opposite directions. By pushing against the pads, a co-contracting isometric pull that causes a rotational force in the pelvis is created. When contracting the hip flexors on one side, we cause an anterior/forward rotation on that side of the pelvis. When contracting the hip extensors on the opposite side, a posterior/backward rotation is created.
This rotational co-contraction force brings the pelvis back into its normal position, strengthening muscles, stabilizing joints, and realigning the spine and pelvis. This creates a better distribution of force up through the spine and down through the legs, alleviating your back, hip and sciatica pain.
