From four-decade-old vines, this red Burgundy wholly and completely captures the essence that is Les Beaux Monts. The Tasting Panel calls it “leaner and more restricted than some previous vintages, but still a very pleasing and balanced wine that can be opened now or expected to age another ten years.”
A tricky vintage, yet approachable, “Burgundy 2011 is seductive...the reds are lively and charming,” according to Decanter writer Jeannie Cho Lee. She also highlights Vosne-Romanee as showing “great consistency, producing wines with supple tannins and flavors that are accessible even at a young age.” Put simply, the region is the vintage’s star producer. Plus, this wine is true to the Aurelien Verdet style and tradition that was started by Aurelien’s father in the early 1970’s when he became one of Burgundy’s first proponents for the organic movement.
