Uncle Nearest 1884 is the proud legacy of the Godfather of Tennessee Whiskey, Nathan “Nearest” Green. The first African-American master distiller on record, Nearest is credited with perfecting the globally recognized Lincoln County Process— the key element that distinguishes Tennessee Whiskey from Kentucky Bourbon (other than geography). This unique process filters the bourbon through sugar maple charcoal to remove impurities without otherwise impacting the already perfect whiskey.

Each small batch of Uncle Nearest 1884 comes from barrels hand-selected by the founders and curated by 5th generation Green descendant, Master Blender Victoria Eady Butler. Aged a minimum of 4 years and bottled at 93-proof, this smooth sipping whiskey is perfect on its own or in your favorite cocktail.

In 2019, Uncle Nearest 1884 joined the award-winning Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey line-up. Their ultra-premium whiskeys have garnered more than 380 awards since launching in July 2017, including: "Spirit Brand of the Year" from Wine Enthusiast, "Whisky of the Year" from USA Spirits Ratings, back to back “World’s Best” from World Whiskies Awards, “Top 5 Whiskies in the World,” from Cigar & Spirits Magazine, two “Chairman’s Trophies" from Ultimate Spirits Challenge, and “Best American Whiskey” from New Orleans Bourbon Festival and Ascot Awards.

Tasting Notes
— Nose: Warm brown sugar and aromatic wood notes of pecan and oak. Toasted frame and cherry cordial. Balanced spices of some nutmeg and coriander.
— Palate: Pleasant wrap of sweetness. Hints of coconut and walnut, maple syrup and cinnamon at the finish. Herbal rosemary.
— Finish: Cinnamon lingers with oak tannins and continues with campfire smoke notes.
