In 1975, Mike Fisher slipped a love note into the first box he made and gave it to his high school sweetheart. In 1978 he left college to launch his first company, Heartwood, from which over 2,700,000 customers have enjoyed custom sliding dovetail secret boxes and jewelry chests. In 2015, Mike used these same efficient and layered design skills to build a wood stand to declutter his desk. This inspired the UNDERSTANDS project: gorgeous, handmade wooden monitor stands, with hidden storage underneath.
