How do you adjust this bracelet?

To open the bracelet you pull both sides of the bracelet apart, to close you pull one or both of the strings with a red agate bead at the end to tighten.

Is the 8” length when it is at its shortest?

The inside circumference of the bracelet when closed is 7.25". 8" is the end to end length if the bracelet were laid flat.
