Initially drawn to design and architecture, Robert Clergerie discovered the world of shoes in 1970 and fell in love with the profession straight away. He perfected his craft over the course of several years working in Romans-sur-Isère— the heart of the French shoe industry— and in 1978, acquired a longstanding manufacturing site in the region where Clergerie shoes continue to be made to this day. Taking inspiration from the confident, independent woman of today, Clergerie's style is epitomized by a pure aesthetic that carefully balances elements of the masculine and feminine, and always with a touch of elegance.
