The 2014 Yao Ming Basketball Hall of Fame Commemorative Napa Crest, Napa Valley Red Wine is from an 80-case, Limited Edition bottling of their acclaimed 2014 Napa Crest Red Wine Blend, created to commemorate Yao Ming's induction this September to the Basketball Hall of Fame. Each bottle is tagged with a holographic label to ensure authenticity, with each label numbered between 1 and 1,000. The 2014 Napa Crest Red Wine is Yao Ming's signature, Bordeaux style blend. A combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, the 2014 vintage shows all the depth and character of another spectacular Napa vintage. With a deep ruby color and rich hue, the nose is complex and shows layers of fruit flavors. Blueberry, rich plum and red raspberry notes are apparent. Soft notes of vanilla and toast provide aromatic richness. The texture is supple to show off the 2014 vintage. The tannins are lush with long palate texture. This wine is drinkable now, but will continue to improve for 5 to 7 years. This wine will continue to award the most discriminating drinkers.
Your second included bottle is the 2013 Yao Ming Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley comes from the classic 2013 growing season in the Napa Valley. This vintage will prove to be historic. Appearance exhibits a deep rich ruby hue. Aromas are layered with black berry and flavors of cherry, cassis and plum. There is a core minerality with violet tones. The oak is well integrated and has nice toast aroma with hints of vanilla, spice and dried wood. On the palate, the wine is lush and firm but also has long mature lush tannins and supple texture. This wine can be enjoyed now and will age for 15 years, with a very elegant taste that will survive the years to come.
