These limited production wines featured in a single vineyard, single varietal, vertical allow the wine taster to truly experience the full expression of each. Winemaker Michael Zinke uses a "hands off" approach to his winemaking so you will encounter this amazing vineyard in your glass. Notice the differences from year to year and pay attention to the difference in influence of the French Oak used in each vintage.

The 2014 Thompson Vineyard Reserve Syrah features aggressive aromas of melted dark chocolate and brambleberry that give way to saw dust, freshly ground espresso beans, and a hint of cola nut. Gripping tannins on the fore palate are met with a weighty and fruit forward mid palate. Floral and deep earth tones further perplex the palate on the long and seductive finish.

The 2015 John Sebastiano Syrah is deep and robust but maintains the elegance of cool climate Syrah. Perfectly structured from top to bottom with balanced acidity, silky tannins, spice, and powerful fruit. Espresso, dark chocolate, and huckleberry jam with notes of clove and smoked sausage. An incredibly complex wine that finishes for days. If you must drink right away then decant for an hour, but this wine will show beautifully if cellared for 5-15 years.

The 2016 brought cooler temperatures and finally rain after an almost 8 year long drought in Southern California. These conditions created a brighter, Old World styled Syrah. Acid driven, lighter, and more feminine, the 2016 Kimsey Vineyard Reserve Syrah will pair perfectly with any fall and winter dish. Hints of violets, cassis, blackberries and a mild spice will fill your palate while you savor this punchy Syrah.
