The multi-award winning Equiano Rum is one of the most highly acclaimed rums in the world for the 8-10 years aged category. The pure and natural rum first matures in ex-Cognac casks at Gray’s Distillery in Mauritius. Then, ISC and IWCS Rum Producer of the Year, Richard Seale blends it with his award-winning rum from Foursquare in Barbados, which is also matured in ex-Bourbon casks. This carefully crafted rum is unlike any other, and is perfect for enjoying on the rocks or in a craft cocktail.

Equiano is named for Olaudah Equiano - born in Africa, brought to the Caribbean as a slave and settled back in the UK as a free man. He paved his way to liberation by selling rum and became a prominent freedom fighter and leader in the slave trade abolition movement between the UK and the US.

Equiano was a brave visionary. Between his values, journey and impact, the team at Equiano Rum is proud to have his name adorn the Equiano Bottle.

What does it taste like?

Equiano has a classic Barbados Rum profile. Vanilla, light toffee and some gently oak, leading into fruity notes such as Raisins and Sultananas. A touch of Banana and some sweeter notes of Strawberry and Cherry. Further nosing reveals more citrus – some marmalade and some ginger.
