Red Japanese Maple // Pacific Northwest
Product Description
Red Japanese Maple // Pacific Northwest is a magical new metal print from French photographer Jean-Claude Louis. Metal prints represent a new art medium for presenting photographs by infusing dyes, using heat and pressure, directly into coated brushed aluminum plates. The image is infused into the surface of the print — not simply resting on it. The colors of this masterpiece are vibrant with exceptional detail and resolution. As the light plays with the brushed metal and the inks, the image will take on an almost magical luminescence.

About the Designer
A native of Alsace, France, Jean-Claude Louis is an award-winning artist living and working in the Pacific Northwest. Using film and digital capture, digital processing and traditional photographic and printmaking techniques, he creates images that explore themes of nature and landscape.
His creative processes and approach to his artwork are a reflection of his training as a physician and a scientist — a continuous path of exploration and experimentation. Instead of presenting the reality of things, he finds his fascination in transforming it into a subjective perspective. ‘Making’ an image rather than ’taking’ a picture — less description, more imagination; less documentation, more suggestion. By manipulating color, light, shadows and contrast, sometimes combining multiple photographs or adding textures, he seeks to create images of beauty, and he trusts that the enchantment, the poetry will follow.
