Owned by Betty O’Shaughnessy, the Rancho Del Oso vineyard is located at the very top of Howell Mountain, and is named after the red bear that climbs the deer fence and swims in the reservoir. This is the vineyard that supplied the grapes for this special trio of Sbragia Family wines, and helped create the big fruit flavors and unmistakable intensity of the Howell Mountain Cabernets.
The 2005 Sbragia Rancho Del Oso Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon pops with rich black fruit and sweet chocolate aromas that lead into lush dark fruit flavors of blackberries and dark black plums with hints of cola, chocolate mint and brown spice. Perfect for the big mountains, or a holiday dinner.
Awarded 95 points by Wine Enthusiast, the 2006 Sbragia Rancho Del Oso Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an ideal example of the power and grace a Cab can offer. This wine simmers with rich black fruit and sweet chocolate aromas that lead into ripe fruit flavors of blackberries and plums, along with hints of vanilla bean and nutmeg. Complex with a touch of minerality, it's the ideal dance partner for any evening out, or in.
Sporting 94 Points from The Wine Advocate and 95 Points from Anthony Dias Blue of The Tasting Panel, this 2007 Sbragia Rancho Del Oso Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon leaps from the glass with ripe black fruit aromas – cherries, berries, plums – that dance across the palate at first sip. There’s a chocolate note to the wine as well, and the overall first impression is of maraschino cherries rolled in cocoa powder. Supple and juicy, its an oaky and nostalgic-tasting compilation, perfect for celebrating.
